So now we have to figure out

the specific products and services (and the specific conditions, if any) are important enough to allow for delivery by drone.

because:
will there be exceptions? if we agree, yes, move on. otherwise, emergencies.

now that we agree there will be exceptions, we agree that we are looking at a bit of a mess.

my "important enough" for 30 minute delivery is, according to you, only worthy of 24 hour delivery.

seems untenable. at best it will involve a monstrously wasteful bcy.

i don't want drones flying overhead any more than anyone else. but they almost certainly will be very soon.

- well, the whole 9-1-1 emergency system is pretty organized and works pretty well.

well, yeah, but the responses they are engaged in generally directly affect other drivers on the road. eventually, of course, a drone will fly directly to and carry victims wherever is appropriate, but in the meantime they will almost certainly bring supplies, and this type of capability tends not to threaten the safety of others.

ie. the danger justifies the control.

the less the danger, the less justified the control, with the fundamental assumption that individuals should be free to create and develop products that serve market needs.

usually the result is a heavy blanket of regulations (ie. gun sales) and insurance. i assume that will be the case here.
