Every member of the jury that convicted Jerome Ersland should be charged with the crime of kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.

Of course the prosecutor is ultimately responsible, and should never have brought such ridiculous, indefensible charges, but the decision to make that final judgment was the jury's. Now a man who, in the absolute worst case, got carried away in the heat of the moment as he was reacting to a pair of armed robbers threatening his property, his life, and the life of his employees, spends every day behind bars.

FYI, that specific black life did not matter. The life of an individual who commits an armed robbery does not matter. You understand that, right? You get it? You totally, totally get it, right? Armed robbery = "you don't value anyone else's rights, and you are willing to put their lives at risk to get what you want, and to 'oops it got out of control and he fought back so i had no choice' kill the victims."

So it's not the robbery victim's job to 'accurately toe the line in defense of himself and others'. The concept is ludicrous. Laughable. Disgusting. Criminal.

Kill armed robbers. Kill them dead. If you have to, edit the tape to hide the part where you actually kill them. Lie. Because the police are not on your side. The prosecutor is not on your side. The public will not necessarily be on your side or be able to do anything about it. Kill the robber. Kill him dead. Check his pulse. Still beating? Shoot him again. Stopped beating? Maybe shoot one more time.

This is an issue that must be forced by some incredibly brave, selfless souls. This must be settled once and for all. Yes, you have some sort of responsibility at a certain point to not continue a situation..... but no, not really. It's the other guy's fault, EXACTLY LIKE IF YOU OVERCORRECT TO A CAR THAT CUTS YOU OFF AND PUTS YOU AT RISK. YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE IN THAT SITUATION, YOU STUPID FUCKING ASSHOLES.
